The competition of solar-powered tricycles (http://www.carrerasolar.com/) meets rider effort represented in the force applied on the pedal, solar energy, and the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world. The objective of this project was to design a trophy containing a strong symbolism, to represent the spirit of competition of solar tricycles, realizing that the context was the Atacama Desert. The design concept was obtained by rescuing the plate of the bicycle crank and pedal, the sun and the rotation of the earth around you, and the materiality of copper, the most abundant metal in Chile. Different trophies in different sports in which the athlete receives an award in each sport as there is a particular type of trophy were analyzed. A trophy which is based on a quarter of a circle that can rotate a rod was developed, accounting for a round pedal tricycle and symbolizing the sun. Materiality was lacquered copper.
